A commemorative deck published by ASESCOIN (Asociación Española de Coleccionismo e Investigación del Naipe) and edited by Maestros Naiperos Españoles S.L. in 2004,
featuring illustrations by Vicente Arnás.

"...For this project,
we have collaborated with Vicente Arnás, an internationally renowned
painter and illustrator, who has created a beautiful deck for us—modern in
style but with an undeniable Cervantes flavor.
The Knaves
(Sotas) represent Dulcinea, an idealized character balanced between a
peasant girl and a princess who only exists in Don Quixote's love-struck
fantasy. Sancho Panza and his inseparable donkey occupy the Knights (Caballos) in an undeniably "La Mancha" setting; while the Kings (Reyes) are, naturally, reserved for the immortal protagonist of Cervantes' magnum
opus. Aces and fours display allegories or representative scenes from the
first part of the novel; meanwhile, for the Jokers, we have paired the priest
with the barber, and the housekeeper with the niece—significant figures from
Don Quixote's universe..."
The cards feature a high-quality
satin finish. Although designed for decorative or display purposes, it could
easily be used for traditional games since the illustrations across the
different suits are recognizable at a glance, unlike other custom or
commemorative decks. It has been a labor of love and respect, both for the
Spanish-suited deck itself and for Cervantes' work.
In addition to
the 40 cards, the set includes two unique Jokers, information about the
artist, details regarding the deck, and four calendars for the year 2005,
which feature the artwork of the four Aces on their face side.
